This is a premium offering on hydrographic surveying and is tailored to meet the minimum standards of competence jointly published by the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and the International Cartographic Association (ICA). The Academy is in the process of seeking recognition to this program from the International Board which defines and publishes the international standards. The Academy is presently aligning its hydrographic training with the published standards at both category levels.
While the program is increasingly expected for professional and entry level hydrographic surveyors, it will also help to serve the purposes of developing countries that are setting up their national hydrographic offices. The program components include: introduction to nautical science, bathymetry, tidal flows, geodesy and map projections, hydrographic practice, hydrographic data management, environmental science and legal issues.
