This is a premium program offering on nautical cartography and is tailored to meet the minimum standards of competence jointly published by the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and the International Cartographic Association (ICA). The Academy is in the process of seeking recognition to this program from the International Board which defines and publishes the international standards.
While the program is increasingly expected for professional and entry level nautical cartographers, it will also help to serve the purposes of developing countries that are setting up their national hydrographic offices and considering how to meet their training requirements cost-effectively. The components of the program include: Introduction to nautical cartography, input data, assessment and notice to mariners, producing Product Portfolio - Chart Compilation; ENC Vectorization; publication production; Geospatial Data, establishing a hydrographic capability – databases; law of the sea; and value added services.
