GIS Digitizers/GIS Operators
These are entry level positions that require knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting and Visualization. All foundation level programs offered by the Academy will equip learners to be industry-ready for such career openings. College students can register for such programs during semester breaks.
GIS Technicians/GIS Engineers
These positions require reasonably good knowledge of GIS and related application software. The Academy offers programs that build upon the foundational concepts with industry-focused case studies and project-work using special software. Fresh graduate engineers (with or without experience), and graduates from other disciplines such as Science, with about 2 years' experience can apply to the Academy.
GIS Analysts
These positions require good knowledge and skills in Geospatial Science and Applications. Problem-solving, Communication and Client Engagement skills are an added advantage. Customized programs addressing specific domains of activities such as, agriculture, transportation, telecommunications, coastal zone management, utilities management, can be delivered on request.
Nautical Cartographers
The entry level positions needs knowledge of cartographic sciences and skills in use of geospatial data processing software for analysing data and mapping software for chart production. Competency in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) is a definite advantage. The role of entry level professionals will include processing of survey data, producing charts and creating database of seabed and subsea facilities.
Survey Technicians and Hydrographers
These positions require specialized knowledge of geophysical surveying, underwater acoustics, theory of geodesy and tides. The skill-sets required to succeed in these positions include, use of hydrographic equipment, planning and execution of survey operations, and use of appropriate software packages for data processing and quality control. Experienced professionals play the role of Senior Hydrographer, Survey Party Chief who lead large scale hydrographic surveys and projects.
Mid to Senior Level Positions include:
